Fines for owners of dogs off the lead in Tilgate Park considered

People could be fined for letting their dog off the lead in Crawley’s Tilgate Park.

A consultation is being held next month on plans to put a Public Space Protection Order in place requiring all dogs to be on a lead in the park and banning them from play areas and the Walled Garden.

Those caught not doing so could face a £100 fine or more if the there was a case for prosecution.

Current rules state dogs must be kept on leads around the lake, but councillors are now considering tougher restrictions and fines after reports of wildlife being chased.
