Sussex residents who have saved lives through organ donation have been posthumously honoured at a recent award ceremony.

They received the Order of St John Award for Organ Donation, that was run in conjunction with NHS Blood and Transplant, and was given to their families and loved ones on their behalf.

In total, there were thirteen recipients of the award, with ten of them from Sussex.

More than 4,000 people donated their organs after death between 2019 and 2021, leading to around 10,000 other lives being saved or transformed.
