Susy Radio celebrates ‘Local Radio Day’

As in previous years, Susy Radio joined many other local radio stations from all over the country in support of ‘Local Radio Day’. held on Monday, 12th October

This year, ‘Communities making waves: turning the tide on isolation’ was the theme for the day.

This year in particular, the need to unite during isolation and join supportive networks has really highlighted just how important local radio is, both for reliable information and as a source of great entertainment.

With local news, traffic bulletins and information, local events and details of various support hubs for coronavirus, local radio has been crucial for many in their local communities during 2020, and Susy Radio has endeavoured to play its part for our community.

The day began with Susy’s Jim Richman hosting a ‘Local Radio Day’ Breakfast which was followed by a special programme live from the station outside broadcast unit with Neil Munday based at ‘Blue Lizard Signs‘ in Crawley, and featuring special guests Henry Smith, Member of Parliament for Crawley, Cllr Peter Lamb, Leader of Crawley Borough Council and Steve Sawyer, Executive Director of Manor Royal Business District, Crawley.
This was held in a strictly controlled ‘Covid friendly’ environment given the current situation in which we find ourselves.

Ellie P took over the reigns from Neil with her programme for ‘Local Radio Day’ which also featured some of the messages which listeners had been invited to send to the station requesting ‘shout outs’ and thanks to friends and family in the area, and Geoff Rogers continued to celebrate ‘Local Radio Day’ following on from Ellie.

Here are some of your voice messages received during Local Radio Day and played by Ellie P. Thank you for all your emails and texts as well.
