Be Careful Who You Scare: Hallowe’en Advice From Surrey and Sussex Police

Surrey and Sussex police have issued some advice prior to Hallowe’en.

They ask trick or treaters to “be careful who you scare” and consider the elderly and more vulnerable in the community who may find having strangers call at their door a frightening and intimidating experience.

Two downloadable posters are available from the police websites; one to deter unwanted trick or treaters, and another for those who do want to take part in Hallowe’en celebrations. The posters are available at  sussex.police.uk/news/please-be-considerate-this-halloween/   or   surrey.police.uk/advice/protect-your-neighbourhood/halloween-advice/ .29

Zero Emission Fuel Cell Electric Bus Service Launched At Gatwick

A fuel cell electric bus service will be launched at Gatwick.

The service will be trialled by Metrobus on the company’s Fastway 100 service between Crawley, Gatwick Airport and Reigate.  During the trial, the double decker bus will operate alongside conventional buses on the route.  It will be refuelled at the Metrobus depot at Manor Royal Business Park. Metrobus expects to follow this with an order for 20 single deck fuel cell electric buses.  They aim to expand provision of zero emission journeys and improve local air quality.

A zero emission electric bus trial is already running on route 400 from Caterham to East Grinstead.

Gatwick Airport has increased its financial support for local buses so that services can run during early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Oxted Quarry Lorries

Surrey County Councillors have agreed to limit the daily number of HGVs travelling to and from the Oxted Quarry.

It has been agreed to reduce the number of daily HGV movements at the Chalkpit Lane quarry from 156 to 112. The main reason for the reduction was because no evidence was submitted, that a lower number would affect the quarry’s economic viability.

The Oxted and Limpsfield Residents’ Group is reviewing the details of the new planning controls for the quarry agreed by Surrey County Councillors.
