A Crystal Palace midfielder has been charged with carrying a weapon after a fight near a Reigate nightclub.
Jason Puncheon was arrested after the disturbance near the Mishiko bar in Church Street. He was arrested in the early hours of Sunday and was charged with possession of an offensive weapon, common assault and a public order offence of causing fear or provocation of violence.
He has been released on bail to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ court on 5th January.
Crystal Palace has declined to comment.
The Prudential RideLondon cycling event, which passes through Surrey, raised a record £12.75 million for charity this year, beating the previous record of £12 million.
Cyclists have raised more than £53 million for charity over the first five years of the cycling festival.

Crawley Wasps Ladies Football Club ended a successful 2017 by booking a place in the Sussex FA Women’s Cup semi finals with a 2-0 win over Chichester City’s development squad on Sunday.
Wasps have reached the final in both of the past two seasons.
Crawley Wasps go into 2018 unbeaten this season, with just three losses in 23 games in all competitions in 2017.

Four Safe Havens in Surrey, offering help for adults experiencing a mental health crisis, will be open throughout Christmas.
The Safe Havens offer a friendly environment for anyone needing an informal chat with a professional without needing a pre-booked appointment. Each Safe Haven is staffed by an NHS mental health practitioner and two trained Safe Haven workers. The Safe Havens are located in Woking, Guildford, Epsom and Redhill. The Redhill Safe Haven is situated at the Wingfield Resource Centre and is open from 6 pm – 11 pm every day including the Bank Holidays.
The Samaritans are available 24 hours a day during the Christmas period, and children can visit Kooth.com for online counselling sessions until 10 pm each day.
