Boy’s head cut open in hacksaw attack

A 14-year-old boy’s had his head cut open with a hacksaw in East Grinstead.

He was with 2 other boys or similar age at a house in Holtye Avenue on Sunday, when 2 people are said to have broken in and threatened them.

A 37-year-old man along with a 35-year-old woman from Horley have been arrested and are under investigation.

Concern over development in Redhill

Historic England and The Cinema Association have expressed concerns about the demolition of the historic façade of Liquid and Envy in Redhill to make way for 133 flats.

Plans were approved by the Council’s planning committee on Wednesday night, a year after they were submitted by developers.

Rainier Developments are the third to take on the plot since the nightclub closed down 5 years ago.

Late trains between London and Horley and Redhill stopping

Several late night trains between London Victoria and Horley and Redhill are stopping from this Sunday to allow Network Rail to carry out engineering works.

Trains departing after midnight and before 4:50 am on Sunday to Thursday are affected until at least December this year.

Operator Southern has said Thameslink services will have additional stops to compensate.

RMT boss calls Aslef ban on Southern overtime “hugely significant’

RMT boss, Mick Cash has called Aslef’s refusal to work overtime on Southern lines from the end of May as a “hugely significant development”.

In response, he’s called for “tripartite talks” in the long-running dispute over driver-only-operated trains.

The train operator says passengers will suffer just as services are improving, accusing union leadership of designing action so as to impact as many people as possible.

RMT members will walk out for 24-hours on the 30th May.
