Norwich City 0 – 6 Crawley Wasps

Crawley Wasps have made it three wins from three since promotion to the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East.

Wasps travelled to Plantation Park at the weekend and put six past Norwich City to lead the table, ahead of Billericay on goal difference.

Crawley are due to welcome AFC Wimbledon tomorrow (Wednesday 12th September) to Oakwood FC, Tinsley Lane.  Kick off is 7.45pm.

Football Update

Crawley Town’s new Head Coach, Gabriele Cioffi, was watching in the stands at Lincoln on Saturday.  Players Jimmy Smith and Filipe Morais took charge for the last time as they led the Reds to a 1-0 victory.

Redhill are in 4th place in the Combined Counties Premier Division, winning 5-3 away to Walton and Hersham.  Horley Town lost 3-1 away to Chertsey Town. Horley were down to 10 men in the last 20 minutes when Karl Parker was sent off for descent.

Many of our local teams played in the FA Cup first qualifying rounds on Saturday.  It was a goalless draw in Merstham’s home match against Cray Valley Paper Mills – there will be a replay on Wednesday.  Horsham will replay their match against Corinthian following a 1-1 draw. East Grinstead Town are through to the second qualifying round, winning 2-1 away to Fleet Town.

Susy Cricket Roundup – The 2018 League Season ends

The league season drew to a close with both Outwood 1sts and 2nds promoted as Champions; Roffey are the Premiership winners, with Three Bridges Div 2 promoted as champions in Sussex. Newdigate preserve their Fuller’s Premier status and Merstham’s John Turner, playing for Surrey O70s 2s, makes the first century of his career – at the age of 76.

Football Update

After the departure of Crawley Town Head Coach Harry Kewell and his assistant Warren Feeney to Notts County on Friday,  player-managers Jimmy Smith and Filipe Morais have taken temporary charge of the team. The Reds lost their League 2 match away to Oldham Athletic 2-1 on Saturday.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham won 3-1 at home to Potters Bar Town.

South Park lost their Bostik South Central match at home to Bracknell Town 3-0.

For the second week in the Bostik South East League, all our local teams lost their matches as follows:

Whyteleafe 3 Horsham 1

VCD Athletic 2 Three Bridges 1

Cray Wanderers 2 East Grinstead Town 0.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, it was a goalless draw for Horley Town’s home match against Badshot Lea.

And Redhill are through to the next round of the FA Vase after beating Holmesdale 2-0 at Kiln Brow.  Redhill are back in action in their League match this evening when they travel to Sutton Common Rovers. Kick off is at 7.45.
