Nine thousand Surrey street lights will be converted to environmentally-friendly LEDs. 

The program07me will cost £20,000,000 and it is expected to take three years to change all 89,000 lights in the county.  Work has already started in the Guildford area. 

The new energy efficient LED street lights will last for 20 years, six times longer than traditional bulbs.  Surrey County Council estimates the conversion to LED will use around 65% less energy which will save £2,000,000 a year based on February 2020 prices.
