The Afternoon Stroll Cricket Roundup: Week 15

Week 15 sees Horley and Outwood slip up as they enter the final straight, but Roffey, Newdigate and Chipstead CW are still table toppers – as are the mighty South Nutfield, who need only 12 points from their last three games to be crowned Surrey Downs champions (and SNCC also beat Horley in the regional final of the Surrey Slam!)

Crawley Town leads local team victories

Crawley Town won their first game of the season against Salford on Saturday.

A penalty from Bez Lubala and then a goal in the second half from Nathan Ferguson led to a 2-0 home victory.

Head Coach Gabrielle Cioffi described the performance as ‘ruthless’ and hopes to keep the momentum as they travel to Walsall on Tuesday for their first Caraboa Cup match.

It was good news too for Redhill who got their FA Cup campaign off to a positive start with a 2-1 win over K Sports with goals from Sam King and Mo Diakite.

While it was a mixed day for Horley who drew 2-2 against Bearsted in their FA Challenger Cup match.

First Games Of The New Season For Some Local Football Teams

Saturday saw the beginning of the new football season for some of our local teams.

Crawley Town made a disappointing start to the new League 2 campaign after losing their first match of the season 2-1 away to Carlisle United.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Redhill lost 2-1 away to Molesey in their first game.

A new season and a new division for Horley Town as they transfer in a lateral move to the Southern Combination Premier Division.  It was a good start for Horley winning 2-0 at home to Hassocks FC. Playing in the same Division as Horley, Lingfield also gained three points winning 3-0 away to East Preston.
