Chrissy catches up with Richard Coppen

Richard Coppen, AKA Dick Crippen of Tenpole Tudor fame, runs Panther Studios in Reigate and also now plays in local band ‘TheWeird Things’.

Chrissy caught up with Rich to chat about the local music scene past, present and future and what it was like recording with Captain Sensible in the Captain’s new musical project the ‘Sensible Gray Cells’.

Elaine Paige’s Charity Single For The Children’s Trust

Singer, Elaine Paige has recorded a special charity single in support of The Children’s Trust based at Tadworth.  The Children’s Trust helps children with brain injury and neurodisability across the UK.  The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that funding has depleted while their work continues. 

The single is a cover of ‘Sing a Rainbow’. 

Elaine has hosted virtual singalong sessions with some of the children who have to spend all day shielding in order to keep them safe. Voices of the children supported by the charity are included on the Sing a Rainbow single. 

Elaine Paige has been an ambassador for the charity for almost 40 years.

Happy Birthday to us!

At midday today, SUSY Radio celebrates eight years of full time broadcasting to the communities of East Surrey and North Sussex.

Following two trials in 1994 and 1995, SUSY Radio began its campaign for a full time local community radio service in 1996.

A licence was subsequently granted authorising full time broadcasting to the area which commenced on 15th July, 2012 at noon.

Black Lives Matter: Horley Residents Show Support

A protest march in support of the Black Lives Matter movement took place in Horley on Saturday. 

The march for equality and justice navigated around the town, ending in the High Street.  The organisers of the march were pleased with the support shown by Horley residents. 

One of the organisers, the Reverend Martha Mutikani, spoke to Susy Radio reporter Neil Munday:

Steve Jesson hosts a ‘socially distanced’ new release special with phone interviews and tracks.
