Five mile skydive for fund raising Mayor

Councillor David Powell, The Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, holds the record as the oldest person in the world to do a Tandem High Altitude Low Opening (Halo) skydive from 30,000 feet (5.68 miles) in daylight hours. In 2014, at 78 years of age he broke the record which was previously held by Ray Woodcock from Essex, Woodcock was just 70 years old at the time of his jump. This August Cllr Powell is heading back to Memphis, USA to break his record again at the age of 80 years old but this jump will be at night during a full moon.

Listen as the Mayor describes what it feels like to freefall for over two minutes at speeds of around 300kph while battling to stop your arms being torn off your shoulders!
