Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town gained three points after winning 2-1 away in a dramatic match at Yeovil yesterday.  Yeovil were down to nine men after receiving two red cards. It was a late finish at Huish Park as a drone stopped play in the 79th minute; players had to be removed from pitch for 10 minutes while the drone was dealt with. The Reds’ winning goal came from Thomas Verheydt in the 98th minute.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham lost 4-0 at home to Worthing.

Our local Sussex teams were in action yesterday in the Bostik South Division; Horsham won 2-1 at home to Lewes but East Grinstead Town lost 3-1 away to Hastings United.  South Park’s match against Carshalton Athletic was postponed.

Tadworth Man Charged With Production of A Class B Drug and Handling Stolen Goods

A Tadworth man has been charged with one count of the production of a Class B drug and one count of handling stolen goods.

Following a three-day trial at Guildford Crown Court, David Morris of Preston Lane admitted growing and producing cannabis, and was found guilty of handling stolen goods. The goods in question were musical instruments; a keyboard and seven expensive guitars.  The instruments were located at the property in Tadworth after police carried out an intelligence led drugs warrant at the address. An amateur musician from Epsom has been reunited with the musical instruments, seven years after they were reported stolen from his home.

Train evacuated at Redhill due to suspected fire

Commuters were evacuated from a train at Redhill yesterday morning due to a suspected fire.

Emergency crews were called, but despite the reports, they could not find a fire.  A spokesman for Southern said the service from Havant to London Victoria had a fault but insists there was no fire.

It caused delays of around 20 minutes and some trains to be cancelled.
