Bostik Premier Division Play-Off Final: Tonbridge Angels 2 Merstham FC 0

Merstham FC have reached the end of the road in their bid for promotion to the National League South next season.  

The Moatsiders lost 2-0 to Tonbridge Angels in the Bostik Premier League play off final yesterday. Both sides were down to ten men after Sonny Miles and Ollie Cook were sent off just before half time.

Tonbridge will play Metropolitan Police in the Super Final on Saturday.

Football Update

The Crawley Town won 3-1 at home to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday in their last game of the season. The Reds ended the season in 19th place in League 2. 

Horsham Football Club will start the next season in their new ground as members of the Bostik Premier Division.  The Hornets have been promoted following their 2-1 win after extra time against Ashford United in the play-off final on Friday evening.

Merstham FC travel to the Longmead Stadium this afternoon to meet Tonbridge Angels in the Bostik Premier Division play-off final.

Due to some reorganisation of the leagues this year, the winner of today’s match isn’t guaranteed promotion as they will go on to play in the Super Final on 11th May against either Metropolitan Police or Poole Town FC.

The Moatsiders are fighting for promotion to the National League South next season.  

Football Update

Crawley Town remain in 19th place in League Two after losing 4-2 away to Carlisle United on Saturday, in their penultimate game of the season.

Merstham’s 4-2 win away to Worthing means they have finished the season in fifth place in the Bostik Premier Division, securing a place in the play-offs for the first time in their history.  Merstham will travel to Carshalton Athletic on Thursday evening in a bid for promotion to join top of the table Dorking Wanderers in the National League South next season.

Horsham have ended the season in second place in the Bostik South East Division and face a Sussex semi final tonight as they host Haywards Heath Town in the play- offs for promotion to the Bostik Premier Division.  Kick off is at 7.30.

Redhill hosted Horley town for their last Combined Counties Premier Division match of the season on Saturday.  Redhill won the local derby 2-0.  Horley Town finished in 10th place in table with Redhill in 12th place.

Merstham enjoyed a 2-0 win against Kingstonian in their last home league match of the season.

In the Bostik South East Division, Horsham won 2-1 away to Guernsey, and Three Bridges won 2-0 away to Whyteleafe.  East Grinstead Town lost 3-1 away to Haywards Heath Town.

South Park drew 1-1 at home to Tooting and Mitcham in their Bostik South Central match.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division it was a respectable 2-2 draw for Horley Town at home to league winners and FA Vase finalists, Chertsey Town.
