East Surrey Hospital Trials MyCareMatters Boards for Patients With Dementia

Photo above shows Lorraine Kutner with a MyCareMatters board at the bedside of her father, John Dixon.

East Surrey Hospital is the first hospital to trial information boards developed by MyCareMatters.

The boards will help give nurses and doctors a simple insight into some extra details about individual patients living with dementia.  MyCareMatters boards have picture symbols for topics that are filled in by a relative to reveal more about the person behind the patient such as preferences for food, music, work background and favourite past time.

The boards are being trialled on two wards at East Surrey Hospital next to the beds of patients with dementia or memory issues.  Clinicians are able to see the extra information about the patient at a glance.
